By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept

By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept - Paulo Coelho A lot of my friends(in real life) liked this book and that's what pushed me to read it. After all, I liked Mr. Coelho's other books so why not try this one? Little did I know that I'm in for a huge disappointment. :( It was meant to be inspirational like all his other books, but I was bored out of my mind reading it.

This book is about childhood friends who rediscovered each other after a long period of separation. With the reunion, they realized that the loved each other. However, Pilar's love interest became a spiritual leader, one who devotes his life to spiritual matters. They were now set to make the right decisions, being fully aware of sacrifices they would have to carry out.

The spiritual side as narrated in the story was set in a Catholic's view of faith, which I am not part of. I disagree on some points, but the others were good points. There were a lot of allegories presented that you have to ponder on. I didn't like Pilar very much because she was willing to fight for her love but then when the opportunity presented itself, she always turned back and escapes. *rolls eyes* At least the ending ended out happy for them.
